Northend United U11's 6 Carnmoney Colts U11's 0
Saturday 24th October 2009

Northend United Youth played host to Carnmoney Colts at a very wet and windy Dunfane pitch, missing some of their key players and this showed as it took a while for the team to settle down.
The first goal came in the nineteenth minute with some good work by Ryan McKenna and Rhys O'Mullan ended when O'Mullan crossed for Sam Bennett to slide the ball home at the back post.
Rhys O'Mullan turned provider again as he slipped in Zack Herbison who beat a defender and calmly slotted the ball past the out rushing keeper and put Northend two nil up at half time.

Rhys O'Mullan, who had been carrying an ankle injury, was replaced at half time by Andrew Milligan. United came out in the second half playing attractive football and it wasn't long before they increased their lead, when a corner from Ben Sempey was played to Andrew Milligan who turned and rifled in a shot through a crowded defence and into the net. Archie Magill then replaced Sempey.
It was all Northend now, with Man of the Match Zack Herbison not giving the Colts defence a minute's peace, with his running, tackling and passing. This led to another goal when a Carnmoney defender cleared the ball only to Ryan McKenna who hit a shot from twenty yards, which the big keeper tipped the ball onto the bar, but as it fell, there was Eamon Elliott to bundle it home. Calum Johnston replaced Bennett.
Ryan McKenna then picked out Andrew Milligan with a great pass and he out paced the Colts defence before striking the ball low and hard past the keeper for his second and Northend's fifth.
James Brown replaced Gordon, who had picked up a knock. Carnmoney put some pressure on Northend but their defence of Dennison, Adams, Crawford and McKenna dealt excellently with everything thrown at them. Colts won a corner late on but United played the ball out with James Brown passing to Magill who set Eamon Elliott on his way, in his own half, nothing could stop him as he raced clear to hit
his second and Northend's sixth, for an emphatic victory.

Northend United U11's 5  Upper Ardoyne U11's 3
Saturday 10th October 2009

Northend United welcomed Upper Ardoyne to Ballymena in the East Antrim League and started the stronger team, scoring after only two minutes when Zack Herbison played Rhys O'Mullan through, he beat a defender before chipping the keeper.
Rhys O'Mullan then doubled his and Northend's tally midway through the first half when this time Ben Sempey played the ball out to him on the left and with a carbon copy of the first cut inside and chipped the keeper.

Half Time 2-0

The second half started like the first with Northend troubling the Ardoyne defence and this paid off when Eamon Elliott played in Rhys O'Mullan but this time his shot was saved by the Ardoyne keeper only for captain Zack Herbison to stab the loose ball into the net and put Northend three up.
Ardoyne responded when their forward broke clear to give Anthony O'Neill in the Northend goal no chance. A couple of changes were made when Sam Bennett and Conor Graham replaced the tiring Michael McAuley and Archie Magill.
Sam Bennett then produced a great solo run down the right, taking on and beating two defenders before crossing to Rhys O'Mullan, but once again the Ardoyne keeper produced a great save. However man of the match Zack Herbison stole in to slot the ball into the Ardoyne net.
Northend seemed to take their foot off the pedal and this let in Ardoyne to score two quick goals, to leave the score 4-3 in Northend's favour.
Another substitution was made with Ricky Waide coming on for Ben Sempey, who was excellent in his first game of the season. His first touch was to hammer in a free kick which the keeper dropped and Conor Graham was on hand to slam the ball into the net for Northend's fifth to complete the scoring.

Ballyclare Colts U11's 1 Northend United U11's 6
Saturday 3rd October 2009

Northend United U11's took on a decent unbeaten Ballyclare Colts team at a windswept Six Mile Water Leisure Centre on Saturday.
Ballyclare won the toss and opted to play with the wind at their backs. This definitely played to their advantage as they put the Northend defence under extreme pressure from the kick off, with only solid defending from McKenna, Dennison, Crawford, Milligan and safe hands from O'Neill in goals keeping them out.
Ballyclare did however take the lead when good work in midfield let in their big midfielder to have a strike from twenty yards, which wind assisted, gave Anthony O'Neill no chance.
Instead of Northend's heads dropping this only spurred them on. The Northend midfield of Bennett, Elliott, Boyle and captain O'Mullan started to get to grips with the game, with O'Mullan and Elliott pulling the strings.
Northend United got their deserved equalizer when Rhys O'Mullan beat two defenders down the left side and played the ball through to Conor Graham who kept his cool to slot past the Ballyclare keeper.
United were now on top, and a nice passing move between Eamon Elliott and Zack Herbison sent Rhys O'Mullan off again down the left and this time his cross was met at the far post by the oncoming Oliver Boyle to put United in front.
Once again the excellent Rhys O'Mullan produced a great through ball, this time for Zack Herbison to beat a defender and role the ball past the Colts keeper to give Northend United a 3-1 half-time lead.

With the wind at their backs, the second half started with Northend playing some attractive football. This led to another goal, when a great ball by
Robbie Dennison sent Conor Graham on his way. His first shot was well saved by the Colts keeper, but he was on hand to blast the rebound into the net for his second and United's fourth.
A couple of changes were made with Calum Johnston and Ryan Gordon replacing the hard working Sam Bennett and Andrew Milligan.
Good tackling in midfield by Oliver Boyle and Eamon Elliott saw Zack Herbison taking the ball clear, outpacing the Ballyclare defence, and slotting the ball past the
goalkeeper for his second and Northend's fifth goal.
More changes were made with Ricky Wade, Matthew Adams and Archie Magill coming on for the tireless trio of Robbie Dennison, Jamie Crawford and Eamon Elliot. The substitutions lead to another goal when Ricky 'The Brick' Waide produced a precision, defence splitting, pass to man of match Zack Herbison who once again outpaced the Colts backline and calmly stroked the ball past the onrushing keeper for his hat-rick and Northend's sixth, to leave the final score Ballyclare Colts U11's 1 Northend United Youth u11's 6
This was a great all round display by the entire Northend panel.

Northend United U11's 1  Bertie Peacocks U11's 4
Saturday 26th September 2009

Northend United took on a very strong and well organised Bertie Peacocks team at Ballymena Showgrounds on Saturday. Both teams started off well but cancelled each other out, with United having the better chances early on in the first half.
With Rhys O'Mullan and Conor Graham both putting shots wide of the post, Bertie Peacocks then scored, with some neat passing to let in their striker, giving the young United keeper Anthony O'Neill, no chance.
Another couple of chances fell to Northend, O'Mullan pulling another shot wide and then the Bertie Peacocks keeper saving a snap shot from Zack Herbison. However the half time score remained 0-1
Bertie Peacocks started the second half brighter and deservedly went into the lead, when a shot was saved by the Northend keeper only for the opposing forward to follow up and slam the ball into the net.
Northend's Philip Maybin, who had been struggling with a foot injury, was replaced by Matthew Adams. A mix up in Northend's defence led to a third goal for Bertie Peacocks as two defenders left the ball for each other and the forward nipped in to slot home. Bertie Peacocks were then awarded a penalty for a mistimed tackle by Adams. The big forward got up but slammed the ball against the post and the danger was cleared.
Ricky Waide was then replaced by Andrew Milligan. Northend got a goal back when the tireless Oliver Boyle sprinted from his own half only to be upended in the penalty box. He picked himself up and dispatched the penalty kick into the corner of the net, under the diving keeper.
Northend had a couple more chances but just couldn't find a way past the excellent Bertie Peacocks keeper. However when Herbison turned and his shot did get past the keeper, there was a defender to clear off the line. From this resultant clearance, Bertie Peacocks went straight down the pitch and won a corner. A great delivery beat the Northend defence, for the opposing striker to easily convert.
More substitutions were made and this played out the remaining minutes.

Chimney Corner U11's 0 Northend United U11's 7
Saturday 19th September 2009

Northend United started off the better but just couldn't break down a stubborn Chimney Corner defence. The breakthrough came on twenty minutes when great work down the right by Sam Bennett lead to a cross but the Corner centre half cleared only for Man of Match and United right back Robbie Dennison to volley a shot from twenty yards over the Corner keeper.
Northend United soon doubled their lead when a shot by Conor Graham was saved
but Zack Herbison was on hand to hammer the follow up into the net. Good work by Zack Herbison and Rhys O'Mullan down the United left led to another goal when O'Mullan delivered a cross for Captain Oliver Boyle to steer home to give Northend a 3-0 half time lead.
Northend again started the half brightly. A quick throw from Ryan McKenna was flicked on by Oliver Boyle to Conor Graham who side footed a defender and calmly slotted past the keeper from fifteen yards.
Ricky Waide replaced Matthew Adams in the Northend defence, which was being superbly marshalled by Jamie Crawford and the outgoing Adams, giving away nothing to the Corner attack.
United scored again when Rhys O'Mullan shot, this time on his right foot, and the ball took a slight deflection off a Chimney Corner defender and nestled low into Chimney Corners net.
Eamon Elliott then replaced the hardworking Oliver Boyle. A deep cross from O'Mullan was headed home at the back post by Conor Graham for his second of the match.
Ben Sempey then replaced Philip Maybin who had picked up an injury. Northend weren't finished yet and a great cross from Ryan McKenna was slotted home by Rhys O'Mullan for his second and Northend's seventh of the match. Michael McAuley and Archie Magill came on for Bennett and McKenna and this gave all players a good run out.

Northend United U11's 14  Antrim Rovers U11's 2
Saturday 5th September 2009

A terrific all round display by the young Northend team and a good honest game by both sides in their first game of the season was enjoyed by a sizeable crowd at a sunny Smithfield venue.
Northend took an early lead when Rhys O'Mullan crossed for Zack Herbison to nip in and score at the near post. Antrim then equalized when their striker gave Northend keeper O'Neill no chance with a fierce drive. End to end play before United settled down, Calum Johnston and Conor Graham combined to set up Herbison who gladly accepted.
Northend scored again when Eamon Elliott played in O'Mullan who hit an unstoppable shot past the Rovers keeper.
Rhys O'Mullan then slipped a pass to Zack Herbison who outpaced the Antrim defence before slotting home from a tight angle for his hatrick. A mix up in the Antrim backline let Herbison again in to score his fourth and put Northend in 5-1 up at half time.
United started the 2nd half where they left off and Rhys O'Mullan this time passed for Eamon Elliott to score. Three quick goals from Philip Maybin, Zack Herbison and Conor Graham, and then an O'Mullan corner was slotted home by the ever alert Graham.
Changes were made with Ricky Waide and Sam Bennett replacing Elliott and Johnston. Conor Graham then produced an outstanding run only to see the Rovers keeper pull off a great save from his shot, but the ever alert Herbison was on hand to score the rebound. Graham then completed his hatrick immediately afterwards.
Straight from the kick off, Antrim scored when their forward hit a great shot. This didn't hinder Northend and Man of Match Herbison scored his seventh before being replaced by Michael McAuley. A great solo run by United captain Ryan McKenna was finished off by Graham scoring his fourth and making the final score -Northend United Youth U11s 14 Antrim Rovers U11s 2
